Who are the transformers?

TRANSFORMERS FOUNDATION

We are the denim supply chain representing fiber, yarn, chemistry, textiles, garment factories and laundries, as well as machinery producers. We, as suppliers, know exactly what it takes to make denim products and what the best practices are and, of course, what are not.

What is a Transformer? 

Transformers are individuals and/or companies that initiate new technologies, new inventions, new chemicals, new ideas, etc. for the denim and casual wear industry. They are the best of the supply chain investing and creating production systems of the future and without whom change could not occur.

Mission

As the denim manufacturing supply chain we are the industry catalysts for:

  • consumers to understand best available environmentally sound denim products

  • consumers to understand real sustainable denim products versus green-washed, misleading products

  • brands and retailers to transform their jeans into best-in-class with high added value

  • express our voice on industry threats, and solutions

Actions: Education and communication, reporting, celebration.

Transformers: ED is an educational seminar series meant for students and consumers who wish to learn about the denim supply chain and understand the environmental impact at each step of production.

Transformers Foundation events are for industry professionals who have interest in various subjects in our industry, ranging from energy and water to social responsibility, technology and waste.

Annual Report 

Transformers Foundation will create an annual report each year to celebrate industry-leading players and to understand what is changing and being done on the environmental side of our supply chain.

Transformers will address murky and non-transparent denim industry issues on fibers, chemistry, water, etc. and discuss with its members how to come up with clear and concise adoption recommendation to brands, retailers and NGO’s.

Transformers will write periodic consumer reports.

Transformers will engage in consumer testing and brand/retailer claim validations.
